Richmond Sports Awards honours best of 2018

Thursday night banquet recognized athletes, coaches, officials and administration

Athletes, coaches, builders, administrators and officials were honoured Thursday night at the annual Richmond Sports Awards Banquet, held at McMath Secondary.

Since 1998, the Richmond Sports Council has recognized excellence and outstanding contributions to athletics in the city.

A night of celebration concluded with Jim Lamond presenting the Richmond Sports Council Award of Distinction to Terry Kehoe’s family. The tireless volunteer, who was actively involved with over seeing the awards banquet, passed away suddenly in January.

World U20 hammer throw champion and Cal-Berkeley school record holder Camryn Rogers was named the Richmond News Sportsperson of the Year while Olympian and world class race walker Evan Dunfee was the recipient of the Don Fennell Award of Distinction.
