Richmond's Taylor earns conference weekly honours

Richmond native and University of New Hampshire sophomore goaltender Ty Taylor has been named the Hockey East Co-Defensive Player of the Week.

The 20-year-old went 2-0-0,  allowing only two goals with a 1.00 goals against average and a .958 save percentage as the Wildcats defeated Yale, 4-1, and Brown, 5-1. This is his first Hockey East weekly award of his career.
 Taylor made 46 saves on 48 shots over the two games. He recorded a career-best 28 saves on Friday in the win versus Yale, while he made 18 saves on Saturday versus Brown. Taylor is 5-0-0 this season with an 1.98 goals against average and a .912 save percentage.

The Seafair Minor product took his career to the NCAA Division One level after a couple of outstanding seasons in the BC Hockey League with the Vernon Vipers. He was named the league’s top goalie for the 2017-18 season that led to his scholarship offer and being selected in the seventh round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning.
