Richmond native Josh Bourne has earned BCHL Player of the Week honours after a sizzling start to the Nanaimo Clippers playoff series with Alberni Valley.

A sizzling start to the playoffs has earned Josh Bourne BC Hockey League’s Subway Player-of-the-Week honours.

The 20-year-old Richmond native led the Nanaimo Clippers to a pair of home ice wins to open their first round series against the Alberni Bulldogs.

On Friday, the former Seafair standout contributed a pair of goals, including the game-winner, and also added an assist as his team skated to a 6-3 victory. 

The following night, Bourne had a five points — scoring once and adding four helpers  — and was named first star as the Clippers beat the Bulldogs 6-3.

Bourne led the Clippers in regular season scoring with 58 points, including 29 goals, in 58 games.

The best-of-seven series continues at Alberni Valley with game three on Tuesday and game four on Thursday.
