Richmond's Bourne leads BCHL's Clippers in scoring

Richmond's Josh Bourne scored his team-leading 23rd goal of the season in Nanaimo Clippers 6-5 loss to the Surrey Eagles on Sunday in BC Hockey League action.

Josh Bourne is making the most of his final season in the BC Hockey League.

The 20-year-old Richmond native and alternate captain recorded his 23rd goal of the season in the Nanaimo Clippers 6-5 road loss to the Surrey Eagles on Sunday afternoon. That’s 10 better than his previous career high and he now has a team-leading 50 points with five games remaining.

The Clippers won two of three games on the weekend to improve to 32-17-2-2 on the season — five points behind the Island Division leading Cowichan Valley Capitals.

Bourne was leading the the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League in scoring as a member of the Chase Heat when he was signed by the Clippers midway through 2017-18 season. 

The multi-sport standout led the Richmond Roadrunners of the BC Junior B Tier One Lacrosse League in scoring last year as team captain.
