U17 Air Attack Gold head east with momentum after a a silver medal finish at the recent B.C. Volleyball Club Provincial Championships at the Richmond Olympic Oval.

The Richmond-based team is off to Toronto this week for the national championships which will wrap up on Saturday.

At provincials, the girls enjoyed an undefeated run in round-robin action and the strong play continued with a thrilling three-set (25-21, 23-25, 15-10) quarter-quarter-final win over the Coquitlam Ducks. A 25-11, 25-14 triumph followed against South Surrey’s Seaside Riptide in the semis.

The now tired hometown squad concluded play with a 2-0 loss to Kelowna’s T2VB CREW 1 in the championship match.

Air Attack has been led all season by provincial all-star Elise Wagner. However, head coach Yersin Yung and assistant Madison Reyes believe the overall success was more than on the shoulders of one individual or the team captains.

“It took an amazing group of athletes who selflessly committed to our goal, for us to be successful. In our view, each of the girls are all-stars in their own rights.”

The Air Attack’s roster also features: Simran Sidhu, Emma Ho, Sabrina Chang, Venus Wierenga, Mya Brown, Karysma Reyes, Elise Wagner, Ava Taylor, Kirsten Carta, Toni Power, Mel Tran, Una Brudar and Emily Gong.
