Richmond Gymnastics hosting high school zone meet

For the second straight year Richmond Gymnastics Association (RGA) will be welcoming student athletes to its facility on Sunday for the Burnaby/Vancouver/Richmond Championhsips.

The zone meet will see athletes compete for a spots in next month’s 2019 Provincial High School Championships at South Delta Secondary in Tsawwassen.

There will be representation from four Richmond schools — Palmer, Hugh Boyd Secondary, Steveston-London and McMath. Vancouver schools participating include: Kitsilano, Lord Byng, Eric Hamber, Winston Churchill, Point Grey, York House, University Hill, Crofton House, Templeton, St Patrick's, Windermere, Magee, and Charles Tupper. Representing Burnaby will be Moscrop and Alpha.

The girls will be competing in four events — uneven bars, balance beam, vault and floor. The boys’ events include pommel horse, still rings, parallel bars, and the high bar.

Admission is by donation.

It was back in 2016 when the RGA moved into its new home located at 7400 River Road (across from the UBC Boathouse) after being based at the old Sportstown complex for many years.

RGA is a non-profit association incorporated under the BC Societies Act. Over the last 48 years, RGA has continued to develop and provide the city of Richmond quality gymnastics programs for children and adults of all ages. RGA is also a member of Gymnastics BC.
