McNair Secondary’s Brianna Neal has returned home a gold medalist from the BC Secondary Schools Gymnastics Championships in Victoria.

Neal captured the all-around title in Level One. She was part of the high co-ed school program run out of Delta Gymnastics in Ladner that also attracted students from Cambie and McRoberts. In total, 33 gymnasts from the program made their way to the provincial capital.

Neal’s training teammate Camille Pennors (South Delta) captured the silver all-around.

The championships, hosted by Oak Bay Secondary, featured approximately 300 student athletes from across the province. Qualification was done through earlier zone meets.

Delta Gymnastics high school program is one of the largest in the province with 40 student athletes, ranging from Grades 7 to 12.

The program is coordinated by Tessa Neufeld and runs from September to June.  It is an ideal program for cross-training to compliment other sports.

“We are extremely proud of all our high school gymnasts and are thrilled with how far the have come," said Neufeld.
