Among Warren Karsgaard's many contributions to the local baseball scene was launching the Lower Mainland Baseball Association. The longtime Richmond resident lost his battle with cancer last month at the age of 71.

The B.C. baseball community is mourning the loss of longtime contributor and builder Warren Karsgaard who passed away on Feb. 14 after a long battle with cancer.

Karsgaard, 71, was a stalwart of the Richmond baseball community as a player, coach, and executive. He was involved in Richmond Minor Baseball for over 30 years.

He was also the founder of the Lower Mainland Baseball Association and had a leading role in getting the senior men’s circuit established within the baseball community. His input and efforts as a player, manager, and LMBA Executive member contributed importantly to the association's growth and development.  He was recognized in 2014 with the LMBA’s Special Recognition Award.

The league has announced the coming 2019 season will be dedicated in his memory.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 30, 10:30 a.m. at the South Arm Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Warren’s name to the BC Cancer Agency or the Salvation Army Rotary Hospice.
