Prime Minister Stephen Harper was in Langley last week, being his usual communicative self. We got the call a few hours before his 4 p.m.

As we enter a new year, it is time to reflect on the past and look forward to the future. It's a timely opportunity for your city council to consider what we've achieved during the past few years and what key tasks we still have ahead.

The B.C. Legislature will begin sitting again this February, for the first time in months. Last year, provincial politicians in B.C. got together in Victoria for a mere 36 days.

The Editor, Okay, deep breath everyone! Recent approvals for controversial fossil fuel projects will put tankers along our coast and into the Fraser River, transporting bitumen and jet fuel, respectively.

How can someone say they've seen the future, and it looks great? I can, when it's what Steveston could become if we carefully manage our rich, maritime history.
