Writing contest winners, runners-up receive publicity, prizes

The results are in for the Richmond News Youth Writing Contest. Students in Grades 8-12 were asked to write a 400-600-word newspaper article in the style of Danielle Aldcorn's Family Function column.

The results are in for the Richmond News Youth Writing Contest.

Students in Grades 8-12 were asked to write a 400-600-word newspaper article in the style of Danielle Aldcorn's

Family Function column. The entries were judged by Aldcorn and the News' editor Eve Edmonds.

The winners, who will each have their article published in the News, were: Liam Donaldson, Grade 11; Daniel Khoshaba, Grade 12; Hayley Montes, Grade 10; and Tristan Taylor, Grade 11.

The first of the winning columns is published, right, from Liam.

The runner-ups were: Elena Madorsky, Grade 8; George Zhang, Grade 12; Gina Fung, Grade 10; Nico Hernandez, Grade 11; Derek Zeng, Grade 10; and Anna Takeuchi, Grade 10.

In addition to receiving a free electronic copy of D.R. Graham's book, Hit That And You're Dead, the winners and runners-up will also receive a prize package from Steve's Board and Apparel Shop, The Zone Bowling Centre and Richmond Sockeyes.
