The Editor,

Re: "Survey response poor in Richmond," News, Sept. 28.

You wrote about the poor response from Richmond to this survey. It isn't apathy, there are good reasons not to respond.

Let me explain:

1. My wife and I are long-time residents and we read the local papers. We have never heard of this survey.

2. We have never heard of the survey website.

3. After reading your column, I went to the website to register. It is a very confusing site with menus that lead you around in circles with no off ramp. I think I finally registered.

4. When I found the survey, I couldn't get past the secure site protection message. Two answers were offered: Yes and No. Neither worked.

Perhaps somebody doesn't want responses to the survey.
