MLA Reid could be a bridge

Richmond - The Editor, Re: "Our children deserve better," Letters, June 11.I would like to add to Tanya Blumel's open letter to the Honourable Linda Reid. I had written the Hon. Mrs. Reid asking some specific questions.
Richmond - The Editor, Re: "Our children deserve better," Letters, June 11.I would like to add to Tanya Blumel's open letter to the Honourable Linda Reid. I had written the Hon. Mrs. Reid asking some specific questions.Eleven days later, I received a one-line response: "It is my understanding that all parties are working very hard to reach an agreement." Hmmm. Consider this as me handing back the assignment incomplete.I've got three kids in school and I have had to take time off work on rotating strike days to take care of them.My wife is a part-time early literacy teacher who has felt spread too thin this year as she has had the equivalent of one full day to work with with literacy challenged students in three different classes. Next year, she will have the same amount of time to work with five classes! Those kids need and deserve more. I would like to think the Hon. Reid, a former educator, would be uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between the two sides and help make the best deal possible for kids, teachers and the employer.Jeff HicklingRichmond
