Dear Editor,

You had big plans for a great summer vacation this year but I guess that’s off.

You lost your job; your boss was very sorry and said that they would hire you back as soon as they can, if they can.

There is no guarantee that the business will survive.

The kids are home from school; it was fun at first but they are hard to keep entertained.

You are having a hard time entertaining yourself; you have seen everything on Netflix worth watching, your spouse is home, too, because of the same thing; work closed until who knows when.

The money promised by the government will help, but that is all, it will not replace your wage; it will not pay all the bills.

You worry about your extended family and friends.

You long for the contact of friends, you want to enjoy the sun in the park with pals; you wish you could grab a coffee and get the gossip about the gang, but you stay home.

There is no end in sight.

You keep your spirits up for your family; you do your best to keep everybody happy.

You stay home except for the absolutely necessary trips to buy food and you limit those.

When you must venture out, you respect others and keep your distance with a smile.

You are a hero; you have never thought of yourself as a hero but you are.

You are actively doing things that will save lives!

You are the front-line defence.

What you are doing now will influence the outcome of the pandemic; thank you for your good work and keep it up.

Be proud of your contribution.

This will not last for ever.
