Dear Editor,
I was a child in the 1950s and ‘60s and lived in Vancouver.
Whenever there was a snowfall, all (or most) of the neighbours on East 33rd Avenue shovelled their walks in front of their house. This made a nice pathway through the snow for the walkers.
I’ve now live in Richmond, since 1974, and I am walking every day.
I find that most people do not clear the sidewalk in front of their house or salt the ice. This makes it very difficult for people (especially seniors) to make their way along the sidewalks.
It was an unwritten law that most people cleared their walkway when I was a kid. Please shovel the snow off the sidewalks in front of your homes and if you have elderly neighbours, please do them a kindness and clear theirs.
