The City of Richmond is looking for volunteer "Snow Angels" to help out their neighbours this winter.

Volunteers will help Richmondites who are elderly, ill or have mobility concerns to clear snow from their homes in this program.

“The Snow Angels Program, provided by individuals, families, students and businesses, showcases the commitment from our community to keep our residents safe and connected,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie.

“Helping neighbours clear snow provides volunteers with an opportunity to make a difference and helps to ensure that Richmond residents have an enjoyable and safe winter.”

The Snow Angels Program is only activated when three or more centimetres of snow accumulate in Richmond, and volunteers will do their best to help residents registered in the program.

Volunteers will be provided with tools including a shovel, toque and container of ice melt, and they can choose any Richmond area to serve.

Residents requiring help from Snow Angels are asked to apply by Friday, Dec. 9. by emailing the Snow Angels Coordinator at parksprograms@richmond.ca or call 604-247-4453. Applications received after December 9 will be added to a waitlist.

To learn more about the program or volunteer, visit the city's website, call 604-247-4453, or email  parksprograms@richmond.ca.
