Letters: Car lovers is least of our Garry Point Park woes

A Richmond News reader feels the car enthusiasts are getting a bad rap

Garry Point Park is a busy place, especially for cars in the summer

Dear Editor,

Re: “Richmond car show is muscling in on my beauty sleep,” Letters, online, July 2.

As a car enthusiast, I can appreciate a setting in a parking lot with beautiful exotic and classic cars.

I think that the letter from Ruth is a little misleading and giving car enthusiasts and car lovers some misguided attention.

As far as I am aware, car people might gather once a month for a few hours in the morning to look, take pictures, chat between car owners and car lovers while sipping on their favourite choices of coffee and enjoying Garry Point Park for its relaxing atmosphere.

I am more concerned with not being able to park at Garry Point Park all day long on a busy and sunny weekend, and I know that the local car community might only gather for a few hours once a month.

It’s nice to have everyone in the community enjoy the local parks that Steveston has to offer. Its a beautiful village to be shared by all.
