Open letter to fellow residents,
If you see one of these, don’t harm it.
It’s a ladybug larva and they are all over the place right now, especially on the sticky foliage of trees such as the linden.
The larva, when fully grown, will attach itself to a surface, such as a leaf, and begin to pupate.
After one or two weeks, it emerges as an adult ladybug.
These bugs are essential in our gardens and help keep a check on the aphid population.
