An audit was done on “unreconciled” gift card usage at the City of Richmond.

A forensic audit into the use of gift cards at the City of Richmond has been completed and the information has been forwarded to RCMP for information.

Richmond Mayor Malcolm Brodie made the announcement at Monday's last council meeting before the summer break.

The audit was done on $295,000 worth of "unreconciled gift cards" that were given out at the City of Richmond from 2022 to 2024.

Brodie said at the meeting that since it's been forwarded to police, no other information will be given out.

Brodie told the Richmond News that staff are making sure its policies are clear with regard to such issues.

"You have to look at lessons learned, " he added.
