Kudos to Ravinder Gill of Birak Berry farms for "berry dumping" in protest rather than sit complacent and watch the local strawberry farms get eaten up by cheaper markets. Having been an avid berry eater my whole life, I appreciate the huge differences in flavour between the local strawberries and the "cheaper" ones from California.
I am one that will always opt local for my family and I will continue to support the local growers even if it means paying a bit more of a premium. Mr. Zylmans should take a page out of Birak farms book and be vocal about his livelihood and our "ever decreasing market" of locally grown produce.
