Re: "Triple AAA encourages tourism," News, April 13

I love the idea of travellers coming to our wonderful city, but has anyone taken into consideration the needs of RV travellers and the situation regarding a Sani Station - a place where RV travellers dump their gray water?

Our leaders have turned a blind eye and deaf ear on this once again. I guess if we just stop complaining, they think we will go away.

Well here I go. We need to put a Sani Station somewhere in our great city. We should also make a wonderful RV park while we're at it.

McDonald Beach would make a perfect spot, for example. It could be just like Porteau Cove on Howe Sound or Derby Reach in Langley. These sites are full all throughout the summer. Porteau Cove is even busy in the winter.

Richmond was promised another RV park when ours was closed down before the 2010 Winter Olympics came to town. I wish I could do a poll with all of our RV-ers and find out where they dump their sewage.

One only has to drive down any road in Richmond and they'll see one form of RV or another parked on the driveways. I sure hope people aren't dumping their sewage down our storm drains.

People coming through our city on their travels will ask where the closet Sani Station is. Do you know it's either on Hwy 10 in Langley or Capilano Park in North Vancouver?

This is unacceptable considering there is a site right here in Richmond, which was once a nice clean, accessible location. It's the Shell gas station on the the corner of Garden City and Lansdowne roads.

The city closed it, it says, because it was not a money maker. However, they have a pay-per-use outdoor vacuum. I wonder if that's a money maker for them. Whether it is or not, it's a service that should be provided.

Similarly, a Sani Station is a service that should be provided for our tourists so they can put Richmond on their lists for when they return to our beautiful city.
