Two COVID-19 outbreaks at Richmond long-term care facilities have been declared over and restrictions lifted – Pinegrove Place and Hamilton Village Care Centre are in the clear.

Restrictions, however, remain in place at Fraserview Intermediate Care Lodge after an outbreak was declared there last Wednesday (Nov. 11).

The outbreak at Pinegrove Place was on the first floor, while at Hamilton Village, according to Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), there was only one staff member who had COVID-19.

Outbreaks can be declared by public health at long-term care homes if there is only one case of an infectious disease, whereas in other settings, when an outbreak is declared, it means there has been transmission of the disease within the facility.

COVID-19 cases have been rapidly increasing in B.C. – on Friday Dr. Bonnie Henry announced more than 600 cases had been detected in the past 24 hours. There were 167 people in hospital with COVID-19 on Friday with 50 in intensive care.

In Richmond, the latest weekly data, released on Nov. 12, show 48 new cases between Nov. 5 and 12.
