Three schools in Richmond will have Grade K-7 students on site during the COVID-19 outbreak – Gilmore, Brighouse and McNeely elementary schools will provide support for children of essential service workers.

The school district is communicating to the community that there will be children and adults congregating at these schools, and the public doesn’t need to report this to the City of Richmond as they are sanctioned gatherings.

This is being done under the direction of the provincial health officer and the Ministry of Education.

According to the school district, protocols will be in place so that all activities are in compliance with health orders and WorkSafeBC requirements.

Meena Dawar, Richmond’s medical health officer has approved the school district’s operating protocols.

Students will be at these schools from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
