UBC's Popoff named player of the week

Richmond's Tyson Popoff has been named NAIA West Red Lion Baseball Player of the Week. The third-year starting shortstop with the UBC Thunderbirds led his team to a 3-1 record against the Simpson Red Hawks in Redding, Calfornia.

The third-year starting shortstop with the UBC Thunderbirds led his team to a 3-1 record against the Simpson Red Hawks in Redding, Calfornia.

Popoff went 9-for-18 from the plate with seven runs batted in. His hits included two double baggers and a home run.

He's currently hitting .409 in 22 games this season and has also driven in 19 runs.

UBC (18-10) returns to action April 9, against Seattle University.
