Richmond's Tia Tsang scored a game-high 19 points in SFU's loss on Saturday night at Eastern Washington.

A big night for Tia Tsang wasn’t enough for the shorthanded Simon Fraser University women’s basketball team in Ellensburg, WA on Saturday.

The Richmond sophomore guard scored a game-high 19 points in SFU’s 88-65 loss to Eastern Washington. It was the Clan’s third straight defeat as they slipped to 3-7 in conference play.

Tsang got into the starting lineup for just the fifth time this season, and played 38 minutes – 12 more than her season average. The former McRoberts standout went 5-of-12 from the field, including 4-of-9 from three-point range. She also hit on 5-of-6 free throw attempts. Simon Fraser had just six players available.

SFU trailed by just three after one but the Nighthawks opened up a 10-point margin at halftime and took a 72-54 advantage into the final quarter.

Among the players not in the SFU line-up was McMath grad Jessica Jones. The second-year guard is fourth in team scoring, averaging 9.6 points per contest.

Simon Fraser is on the road for a pair of games next week in Alaska.
