Members of the Steveston Kendo Club participated in the B.C. Kendo Federation Non-Degree/1st Degree Black Belt Tournament last weekend.
This is the first tournament of the fall season and is set up for seniors (16 years and up) that hold ranks ranging from Beginners to 1st Degree Black Belt.
The Steveston Club has been able to dominate this event in the past and this tournament was no different, led by Katherine Lam, Leo Leung and Kenzo Matsushita.
Here are the individual top finishers:
BEGINNERS DIVISION
Tiffany Yang (3rd place).
0-3 KYU DIVISION
Kenzo Matsushita (3rd place), David Yao( 3rd place), Katherine Lam (2nd place), Leo Leung (1st place).
BLACK BELT DIVISION
Sean O'Sullivan (2nd place).
In the team competition, Matsushita, Lam, Yao, Leung and O'Sullivan placed first.
