Former Richmond Sockeyes sniper Daryl Fowler will be in the Alumni's line-up on Jan. 30 at Minoru Arenas.
One of the biggest nights of the Richmond Sockeyes’ season won’t include any opponent from the Pacific Junior Hockey League.
The storied 44-year-old junior hockey franchise will be hosting its annual Alumni Game Saturday, Jan 30 (5:30 p.m.) at Minoru Arenas. The match-up features former Sockeyes taking on the current team.
The night has been a big part of the Sockeyes Alumni Scholarship Foundation since the first game was played 14 years ago. All money raised is distributed to graduating players to assist with post-secondary education.
It’s a component that makes Richmond such a desired destination for junior age players.
The game typically brings back many of the club’s recent top players and this year is no exception.
The 2016 alumni line-up includes: Forwards — Rudi Thorsteinson, Sean Thorsteinson, Jake Roder, Jeremy Hamaguchi, Eli Wiebe, Drew Spencer, Stephen Saretsky, Sam Chichak, Troy Kaczynski, Ryan Johnson, Daryl Fowler and Stephen Campbell; Defencemen — Adam Nishi, Clayon Wright, Troy Paterson, Matt Wagner, Keenan Webb, Dominic Centis, Turner Popoff and Scott Wessa.
Tickets are $10 and available at the door.
