It was a big weekend in the Fraser Valley for the Seafair Sting Atom C1 hockey team.
The Sting skated to victory at Chilliwack Minor Hockey’s 36th annual Atom Tournament. The locals earned a spot in the championship game thanks to a unbeaten 2-0-1 record and earning maximum sportsmanship points.
That set the stage for a thrilling final against a strong opponent from the host association. An intense third period had proud parents and supporters on their feet as Seafair came through with a 2-1 triumph.
As the final buzzer sounded, sticks and gloves flew through the air as the team of nine-and-10-year-olds celebrated the big victory NHL style.
The Sting’s roster includes:Kai Akizuki, Daniel Bakker, Nathan Brown, Dylan Dholliwar, Bobby Feltham , Patrick Higgs-Torres, Kaden Hodder, Cole Kutny, Baz Lacoumentas , Jovan Sanghera, Ashton Warkentin, Carson Webb, Daniel Zheng, Brant Cao, Jaidev Nair and Josh Sharma.
The team’s coaching staff includes Jonn Lacoumentas and assistants Kevin Kutny, Casey Akizuki and Chris Hodder.
