Richmond Minor Football is sending multiple teams to Kamloops this weekend for Football BC's Flag Football provincials.
After playing in five jamboree tournaments in the Vancouver Mainland Football League regular season this spring, the Richmond Raiders spring season wraps up in Kamloops where they will compete against other teams from across the province.
Teams from the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and the Interior will compete on June 7 and 8 in a two-day tournament.
With flag football being the newest Olympic sport in 2028, this tournament highlights the growth of the sport.
The Richmond Raiders are celebrating their 65th year in the community and offer co-ed programs in flag football, tackle football and cheerleading throughout the year.
Spring flag football season is coming to an end, but fall tackle football and cheerleading seasons start up in July.
Anyone interested in enrolling their kids can find information on their website.
For the fall season, the Raiders offer flag football for kids turning five to seven, tackle football for kids turning eight to 18, and cheerleading for kids turning six to 18.
Registration for the fall season is now open but space is limited. The organization notes that no previous experience is needed.
