Richmond City Baseball Association will officially launch its 50th season with 2013 Opening Day festivities on Saturday at Minoru Park's Latrace Field.

Richmond City Baseball Association will officially launch its 50th season with 2013 Opening Day festivities on Saturday at Minoru Park's Latrace Field.

The celebration gets underway at noon and is followed by the Richmond Chuckers Midget AA team taking to the field at 1 p.m.

The second half of the twinbill will feature a Lower Mainland Baseball Association senior men's game, starting at 4 p.m.

Meanwhile, veteran Richmond coaches Don Hass and John Braaten have once again been named to the B.C. Selects staff for the CABA U12 World Series.

Last year, the Selects, comprised of the best Pee Wee age players from across the province, was dominant in claiming the crown in Sylvania, Ohio.

A tryout for Lower Mainland players is slated for Sunday, May 5 from 9 a.m. to noon at Brighouse Park.
