Richmond's Camryn Rogers has been named Athletics Canada's 2022 Athlete of the Year.

The Kajaks alumnus has been recognized for her outstanding performance among many of the top throwers in the world.

Rogers, 23, rose above others and set a new Canadian Record in the Hammer Throw with a distance of 75.33 metres in Langley last June.

Rogers made history by becoming the first Canadian woman to win a medal (silver) at the World Athletics Championships' field event in July and also set a new record at the hammer throw event during the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The former Kajaks athlete's coach Garrett Collier of Ladner is also the recipient of the Jane and Gerry Swan Award as Development Coach of the Year.
