Minoru Park in Richmond braces for lacrosse invasion

More than 50 teams in B.C. are taking to the fields this week.

The largest western Canada lacrosse tournament is to take place in Richmond this weekend.

The fields at Richmond's Minoru Park will be invaded by lacrosse athletes this weekend.

The Richmond Roadrunner's 13th annual Richmond Romp will feature 56 teams in one of the largest field lacrosse tournaments in western Canada.

The tournament kicks off on Nov. 10 and continue through to Nov. 13 at the Minoru Park fields and Richmond Secondary School field.

Richmond Romp originally began as an eight-team jamboree in 2008 with only two divisions but has since grown.

Age groups in the tournament include: U11 (Tiers 1 and 2), U13 (Tiers 1 and 2), U15 (Tiers 1 and 2) and U17.

Richmond has two teams U15 and U17 taking part in the annual event.
