Former Richmond soccer player Maya Alibudbud continues to shine on and off the field in the U.S.

A McRoberts secondary and TSS alumnus is continuing to make waves in the collegiate world south of the border.

Maya Alibudbud has been awarded a prestigious scholarship at her Georgia Gwinnett College, near Atlanta in the U.S.

Alibudbud, who plays soccer for the college’s Grizzlies team, was presented the A.O. Duer Scholarship for excelling in scholarship (a minimum 3.75 cumulative grade point average), character and citizenship.

She is now eligible for NAIA national awards during the organization's upcoming National Awards Day.

Alibudbud - who won the 2013 Provincial “A” U13 Cup with the former Richmond Girls Soccer Association’s “All-Stars” team - is a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-athlete who has collected several honours down south, helping her college team capture three conference championships.

Back in 2013, she played in a stacked Richmond All-Stars side, including the likes of Dakota Chan, a McMath alumnus, who’s playing soccer at the University of Nebraska.
