Richmond's Connaught Skating Club is sending more than 70 athletes to a provincial competition this weekend.

Among the 75 athletes heading to Kamloops, Angelina Guan, 14, will be competing in the Junior Ladies U19 category and is looking forward to the competition.

"At this competition, I really want to skate a strong short program with more performance energy," said Guan.

"I'd also like to skate a really consistent Long Program."

Jaslynn Wong is one of the younger athletes who will be competing in the Juvenile Ladies U12 category at the competition.

"I am really excited to compete with my friends and get high scores after my performance," she said.

Richmond will be sending one of the biggest teams to compete in the Kamloops competition, according to Keegan Murphy, director of skating programs with Connaught Skating Club.

"The competition will give us a good idea of our goal setting and our expectations," said Murphy.

"It will be our athlete's final run to put out their performances before they go to the championships."

Provincial championships will be held in mid-November.
