Four Richmond field lacrosse players helped Burnaby Mountain Selects teams come away with silver medal finishes at the recent Denver Team Camp Tournament.

Known as the premier Team Camp in the Western United States with legendary Hall of Fame Coach Bill Tierney and the Denver Pioneers Men's Lacrosse program hosting the event, the U13 and U15 Selects were runners-up in their divisions for the second straight year, battling through extreme temperatures of 100 plus degrees fahrenheit to go 9-5 over the three day competition.

The U15 Selects Elite team featured Kieran McKay(McMath secondary), Dylan Miller (McNair secondary) and Mark Sahota (McMath seocondary). Justin Preston (Quilchena elementary) suited up for the U13 Elite squad.

The U15 Selects outscored their opponents 65-34, going 4-1 through the opening two days of the tournament with wins over Denver Elite (10-5), DoCo (12-2), All Out Lacrosse (16-3) and Golden State Titans (6-3).

Their only loss was in overtime to the Rocky Mountain Rattlers (10-9). Awarded the top seed following round robin play, the Selects once again doubled-up No. 3 Denver Elite in semi-finals, before falling 8-5 to the Golden State Titans in championship game.

The U13s went 3-2 in round-robin play to earn the number three seed for the playoff round. They faced Cherry Creek in the semi-finals and avenged an earlier 11-1 loss with an impressive 7-4 victory. The Selects then dropped a 10-1 decision to Denver Elite in the final.

The Burnaby Mountain teams also attended a two-hour clinic put on by college coaches in attendance to kickoff the tournament.
