Canada's original national sport has a long history of success in Richmond. That continues with an introduction program being run by the city's association, beginning this week at Minoru Arenas.
The Richmond Roadrunners are hosting "Fun Lacrosse" starting today and next Wednesday (April 11). The program has been divided into two age groups. Children born in 2003 or 2004 will take to the floor at 6 p.m. while the 2001 and 2002 group is scheduled to start at 6: 45 p.m.
There is no cost but participants must bring a hockey helmet Lacrosse sticks will be provided. If an interested child falls outside of those age groups, drop by and ask for more information.
Richmond has produced great lacrosse players who have gone on to the highest levels including the professional National Lacrosse League, Western Lacrosse Association, and also the World Championships.
The association will be hosting the B.C. Pee Wee Championships in July, and has been hosting teams from around the province for an annual Midget tournament and its long-running and highly successful Salmon Festival tournament for Novice and Tyke aged players.
