Richmond Ravens’ U11 C1 team is still basking in the glory of its Remembrance Day Tournament gold last weekend in Burnaby.

At the Scotia Barn Arena, the girls beat Vancouver 7-4 on day one of the three-day event, before smashing hosts Burnaby 10-3 the next day.

The final round-robin game on day three saw the Ravens tie 4-4 with Meadow Ridge to advance to the semi-finals on the Saturday.

In the semis, the Richmond girls against faced Burnaby and again out them away with a resounding 8-3 victory to charge to the final Meadow Ridge.

At the end of the third period of the gold medal game, it was once more tied at 4-4 with the decision going to a shoot-out.

And it was Ravens’ captain Priya Bring who scored the lone goal and goalie Madeline Turner providing the shut-out, resulting in the win for Richmond.

“Going to a shootout in a gold medal game was an exciting way to finish a tournament for sure but beyond that, it was nice to see so many players we have been coaching for the past several seasons, having success on and off the ice,” head coach Bob Basanti said after the game.

“This win was an achievement for the players, coaches, manager, and also, the parents.”

The team was led by two strong goaltenders Erica Ho and Madeline Turner and defense players Anu Grguric, Claire Gillanders, Kaya Basanti and Roya Chen.

The team was aided by strong forwards Anekha Gill, Brooklyn May, Chloe Wong, Giselle Burke, Iyla Cyr, Priya Bring (captain), Sloane Michaud (assistant captain), and Whitney Campbell.
