Richmond's Caleb Clarke is in Florida this week after being named to the Canadian U20 men's roster for a pair of upcoming CONCACAF friendlies.
Canada is scheduled to play Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday and the two teams will also meet next Tuesday. The games are part of a week long camp that will also include six training sessions.
Clarke, 19, earns his second call-up to the Canadian national team program after first being selected to the U20 national team last December, for a 10-day training camp in Sunrise, Florida. Last month, the young striker made his MLS debut for the 'Caps as he played the final nine minutes against FC Dallas on August 15 at B.C. Place.
The Richmond Youth Soccer product recently graduated from the Whitecaps FC Residency program after having a leading role in helping the U18 side reach the United State Soccer Development Academy championship game where it dropped a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat to FC Dallas.
Earlier this year, Clarke also signed his first professional contract and has been training with the first team since.
His Whitecaps Residency teammate - Bryce Alderson - has also been named to the Canadian side which is coached by Nick Dasovic.
The national team is preparing to compete in the 2013 CONCACAF Men's Under-20 Championship, slated for Feb. 18 to March 3 in Mexico. Four teams from the 12-team tournament will qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Turkey 2013.
