The Richmond Christian Eagles will be taking momentum next week to the Langley Events Centre for the B.C. “AA” Boys Volleyball Championships.

The Eagles continued their outstanding season by capturing the Lower Mainland “AA” Championship on the North Shore.

The province’s No. 6 ranked team capped the run with a straight set win over No. 15 Charles Tupper of Vancouver (25-16, 25-16, and 25-17). Earlier, Richmond Christian opened with pool play wins over host Bodwell (25-12), 25-15) and John Oliver (25-10, 25-10). The boys then defeated city rival McRoberts (25-14, 25-5, 25-13) in the semi-finals.

Elijah Kim was named the tournament’s most valuable player.

The team will be focusing on training for the next week. The provincials run from Nov. 29 to Dec. 2.

The Richmond champions have been among the top ranked schools in B.C. all season. Their biggest competition in Langley is expected to come from three Fraser Valley schools — No. 1 Langley Christian, No. 3 Abbotsford Christian and No. 5 MEI, along with No. 2 Duchess Park of Prince George and Lake Country’s George Elliot.
