A Richmond baseball and softball skills event is giving boys and girls the chance to earn an opportunity to compete in the 2023 Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series.

Steveston Sound and Stage’s Alex Sagert is hosting a free MLB Pitch, Hit and Run (PHR) competition for the first time and is inviting young athletes in four age categories — seven to eight, 11 to 12 and 13 to 14 — to test their pitching, hitting and running skills at Palmer secondary’s baseball diamond on Sunday, July 30.

Top performers in each category will have a chance to be entered to win a trip to the 2023 World Series and to compete in the MLB Pitch, Hit and Run finals in October.

“The main goal is for the kids to have fun and test their baseball and softball skills,” said Sagert.

In addition, the Vancouver Canadians have donated a four-pack of tickets to each age group where young athletes can win by registering and attending the skills event.
