The Richmond Sports Council is hosting the inaugural Discover Your Sports Day, an event that will feature over 50 of the city's sports organizations offering a chance to try their activity.

"Families are invited to try different sports and discover new interests, and there will be Sport Passports for kids to keep a record of the sports they try," explained Peter Mitchell, secretary of the Richmond Sports Council. "The day is all about having fun and learning a bit about new sports because kids who have fun being active are more likely to stay active for life."

Sports that will be featured include: baseball, cricket, football, gymnastics, karate, lawn bowling and softball.

The event runs from noon to 4 p.m. The Richmond Sports Council is a non-profit community based organization of sports groups which facilitates effective communication and problem solving between sports groups, other community user groups and city council. It was founded in 1984.
