Perfect start to season includes tournament win for Wildcats

McMath Wildcats Bantam girls basketball team continued an impressive start to its season by capturing their own invitational tournament last weekend.

McMath Wildcats Bantam girls basketball team continued an impressive start to its season by capturing their own invitational tournament last weekend.

The hosts opened with a 35-13 victory over Magee, then rollled to a 52-20 win over city rival Cambie Crusaders. That set the stage for a terrific final as McMath held off Cloverdale's Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers 35-34.

Arielle Murad was named the tournament's most valuable player. She also was selected player of the game in the final. Georgia Booker (Cambie) and Alina Badyal (Magee) also earned player of the game awards.

Rounding out the Wildcats roster are: Emma Pickering, Taylor Acob, Mikaela Paine, Ayden Weber, Natasha Chow, Alyssa Mae Sta Maria, Aaliya Johal, Sammy Narduzzi, Teya Wijayakoon, Hallie Thompson, Tianna Sidgwick and Mahara Gibson.

The Wildcats are now 8-0 overall on the season, including 3-0 in Richmond league play.
