The Canadian Sport Institute Pacific, which includes its Vancouver campus at the Richmond Olympic Oval, had a significant role in Team B.C.’s best-ever showing at this month’s Canada Summer Games.
The Team B.C. delegation of 354 athletes, 52 coaches, 22 mission staff and 27 managers and technical support staff garnered a record 146 medals at the in Winnipeg and two-thirds of those podium berths were recorded by athletes registered with the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific or an affiliated PacificSport Centre.

Team B.C. featured 130 registered athletes who have accessed benefits, programs, services and other resources provided by Canadian Sport Institute Pacific or its affiliated regional centres.
Of the 146 medals won by Team B.C,. registered Canadian Sport Institute athletes contributed to 96 of these medals — in impressive 66 percent.
In addition to the registered athletes at the Games, 22 registered coaches from Canadian Sport Institute Pacific or an affiliated PacificSport Centre were members of Team BC.
“The Canadian Sport Institute Pacific is extremely proud to work alongside provincial sport organizations to support the development of future Olympians and Paralympians in B.C.,” added Pattenden. “The success of Team B.C. is a reflection of the strong working relationship sport delivery organizations have across (the province) through the viaSport Regional Alliance.”
As part of the provincial sport system in B.C., Canadian Sport Institute Pacific provides system and technical leadership at the national, provincial, and regional levels with the goal of increasing the number of BC athletes on national teams with the potential to win medals for Canada.
