Nominations wanted for Richmond sports wall of fame

One more week until nominations close for next year's induction.

The City of Richmond is looking for nominations for next year's new additions to the sports wall of fame.

The Richmond Sports Wall of Fame is located on the first-floor lobby of the Richmond Olympic Oval, and it's currently taking nominations for next year's inductees.

Nominations are open for eight categories: athlete, masters athlete, builder, coach, official, pioneer, special achievement and team, and those inducted into the Wall of Fame will have their achievements highlighted in a digital kiosk.

Criteria for selecting inductees include whether they live in Richmond or have a strong connection to the city, whether they are in good standing and their contribution back to the community.

The deadline for nominations is next Saturday, Dec. 31. Nomination forms, resources and more information are available on the city's website.

Submissions can be emailed to sportswalloffame@richmond.ca or mailed to "Attention: Sports Wall of Fame Nominating Committee, City of Richmond, Community Services Division, 5599 Lynas Lane, Richmond, BC, V7C 5B2."
