Richmond Youth Basketball Association’s U13 Racoons girls rep team capped an impressive season with a fourth place finish at last month’s Metro Vancouver League Playoffs — held over consecutive weekends at the Langley Events Centre.
The Raccoons started the season in the 'C' division and, after some commanding wins early on, were moved up to the 'A' division. They finished with a 9-4 record, good enough for tie for 2nd place, and then went 2-2 in the playoffs, narrowly missing out on a the top three finish.
It was impressive achievement considering the team played in the competitive U13 division but is comprised of mostly 11-year olds (eight) and only four 12-year olds. The girls are looking forward to greater success next year!
The Racoons are coached by Tim Carkner and Paul Teodosio.
