A pair of McMath graduates have been recognized for their impressive seasons on the university soccer pitch.
Second-year defender Ellie Reid and forward Montana Leonard were named all-stars for their play at Wilfred Laurier and Calgary respectively.
Reid was selected to the OUA West First All-Star Team after anchoring a backline that surrendered less than a goal per game this season. The Total Soccer Systems (TSS) product wasted little time in making an impression with the Hawks, being named the team’s rookie-of-the-year.
She is one of four B.C. girls on the Laurier roster.
The Hawks finished third in conference play with a 6-3-7 record.
Leonard was named to the Canada West Second All-Star Team. She was a fixture in the Dinos’ starting 11, finishing third in team scoring with nine points in 14 games, including a pair of goals.
Leonard wound down her youth career with Surrey United of the B.C. Premier Soccer League. Last spring she helped the club’s premier women’s team win its first provincial title since 2014.
Calgary finished with a 7-4-3 record in Canada West play.
