McMath senior girls clinch third straight South Fraser volleyball title

Senior girls' win comes just after Grade 9 girls won the South Fraser championship last week.

The McMath senior girls volleyball team were crowned South Fraser champions for the third year running at the “AAA” championships.

This follows last week’s championship win by the McMath Grade 9 girls, also in the South Fraser zone.

After defeating Steveston-London in the semifinals three sets straight, the senior McMath girls beat Salish Secondary School from Surrey in an exciting 3-2 win in the finals.

Aleah Kippan set the offence to victory, with teammates Mirella Fernandes Boshell and Tiana Maedel putting the ball away with unstoppable attacks.

Stellar defensive performances were given by Alex Yuill and Jessie Huang, said coach Tanya Kippan.

MVP honours went to Tianna Maedel, while Aleah Kippan and Fernandes Boshell earned tournament all-stars.

This is McMath Secondary School’s third straight South Fraser Senior Girls “AAA” title.
