Vancouver Coastal zone team edges Fraser Valley to earn podium finish

Richmond lacrosse players Liam Birch, Evan Brusse, Ian Ryder and goalie Diesel De Guzman helped the Vancouver Coastal win bronze at the B.C. Summer Games in Abbotsford.
The zone team also featured players from Delta, Vancouver and North Vancouver as it competed against other regional teams from across B.C. The local contingent were an exceptional group of athletes and enjoyed a memorable experience that epitomized athleticism, sportsmanship and team-work.
Vancouver-Coastal beat Vancouver Island 7-6 in its opening game before dropping a 10-0 decision to eventual gold medalist Fraser River. The boys rebounded with a 5-1 win over Fraser Valley “A” then edged the other Fraser Valley entry 9-8 in what prove to be an exciting bronze medal game.
The team was coached by New West’s Jason Bishop and Keith Gagne, along with Coquitlam’s Keegan Letourneau.
