Richmond Kigoos kicked off the summer swimmer season with an outstanding turnout for their Icebreaker Meet, held June 2-3 at the Steveston Outdoor Pool.
The event attracted over 500 swimmers, representing 15 clubs, a whopping 30 percent increase in participation over the 2011 meet.
The weekend proved to be a huge success in and out of the water for the host club as many newcomers got their first taste of competitive swimming.
In the end, the Kigoos cruised to overall honours, compiling 953.50 points to easily outdistance runner-up White Rock.
