Ryan Jensen is taking his football career to the prairies.

The Hugh Boyd Trojans standout Grade 12 linebacker has signed with the University of Regina Rams for the coming season.

Jensen was a provincial all-star this past season as he resumed his career following a one year stay in Australia where his father Rod was on a teaching exchange. He is among 17 players the Rams made officially part of their 2018 recruiting class.

"Ryan is a guy that we knew nothing about until he sent in a film a couple of months ago. We like the amount of ground he can cover when he's moving, and being as tall as he is he takes up a lot of space out there. He's a big, rangy guy that we project as an outside linebacker at this level,” said Rams head coach Steve Bryce.

Jensen, listed at 6-foot-3 and 205-pounds, registered 41 tackles and had an interception last season. He also played for Team B.C. at the 2017 Canada Cup.

His first order of business in Regina was attending a spring camp last weekend.

The Rams, who play out of new Mosiac Stadium, home of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, open their season Aug. 22 against Manitoba.

Jensen becomes the second graduating Trojan to take their game to the university level, joining running back Reace Mok who earlier signed with Simon Fraser University.
