Richmond's Mathias Goosen has been named to the Beyond Sports Network preseason All-American second team.

The junior offensive lineman started all 10 games with Simon Fraser University last season and was named an all-star in the NCAA Division Two Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

"Our team has come a long way since our first year in the GNAC and we expect big things this season," said the Vancouver College graduate. "This puts a little extra pressure on me to perform at a high standard, but I've been working hard to be the best I can be."

SFU finished with a 3-7 overall record that included a 2-6 mark in conference play. The 2012 season kicks off on Aug. 30 against Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR. SFU running back Bo Palmer was named to the BST All-American third team.

"It's great to have two players recognized on this list, but at the same time, I still feel we have so many quality players here that should be recognized. With four players drafted into the CFL last year it shows how strong our program is and the quality of players we have here," added Goosen.
